The American Health Care Association (www.ahca.org), the National Center for Assisted Living (www.ncal.org), and Silverchair Learning Systems (www.silverchairlearning.com) are pleased to offer you and your employees an online education course on the HIPAA Security Rule FREE OF CHARGE.
This course has been developed for all employees (front-line employees, management and administrative staff) working in your senior care organizations. It is available in English and Spanish. Make sure you are registered Make sure your administrator has registered your institution so you can take the course for free. You should obtain your password from your administrator. 3.) Log in Enter your name, institution and password (that you got from your administrator) in the fields on this page and click on the LOG IN button. 4.) Take the course Once you have logged in, you will be asked to click on a link to launch the course. Once the course is launched, Click the link that says NEXT> to go from page to page. 5.) Print your course certificate At the end of the course, you will be given the option to view your course completion certificate. Follow the directions for printing your certificate. Authors Raymond E. Davis, R.N., B.R.E., M.Min. Corporate Quality Assurance Nurse Mr. Davis serves as corporate quality assurance director and nurse consultant of a large North Carolina–based health care company, which has 11 skilled nursing facilities. Mr. Davis has held positions as Certified Nursing Assistant, Staff Nurse, Nursing Supervisor, Assistant Director of Nursing, and Director of Nursing Services, with more than 8 years in the long-term care setting. In his current position, he has worked in policy development and implementation, staff training and education, and employee satisfaction and retention to improve quality of care. Amy S. Fann, R.N., B.S.N., N.H.A. Corporate Quality Assurance Director Mrs. Fann serves as corporate quality assurance nurse of a North Carolina–based health care company. Mrs. Fann holds a B.S.N. degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and holds a Nursing Home Administrators license with the state of North Carolina. She has held positions as Nursing Assistant II, Staff Development Coordinator, Quality Assurance Nurse, Prospective Payment System Care Manager/Admission Coordinator, Director of Nursing, and Administrator. In her current role, she has developed a variety of policies, including policies for nursing, resident services, administration, and employee relations. Reviewers Nancy Wicklin, R.N., M.S.
